Primary Care Sports Medicine

At Castle Pines Family Practice & Urgent Care, we offer comprehensive Primary Care Sports Medicine services to patients of all ages and backgrounds. Our goal is to keep our patients active and healthy so they may experience the many health benefits of maintaining an active lifestyle. While we commonly work with athletes and active people, we also manage musculoskeletal conditions that can affect anyone, including osteoarthritis, tendinitis, and concussion.

We also believe it is important that care does not stop after an injury is treated, as prevention of future injuries is equally important to keeping our patients healthy and active. Because of this, we routinely work with our patients on injury prevention, including injuries that are common in specific sports.

A large part of our Primary Care Sports Medicine practice is providing comprehensive health care for the athlete and active patient, including management of chronic illnesses, such as exercise-induced asthma hypertension, and diabetes.

Injuries

Are you suffering from a painful injury? It is estimated that up to 94% of musculoskeletal injuries may be managed non-operatively. From sprains and strains to tendinitis and stress fractures, our Primary Care Sports Medicine specialists are skilled in treating both acute and chronic-overuse injuries conservatively. While surgery may be a necessary treatment option for some injuries, many patients benefit from conservative treatment options, including prescribed (rehabilitation) exercises and injection therapy. If our Sports Medicine physicians determine that surgery is a good option for you, then we are able to quickly refer you to one of our excellent Orthopedic Surgery partners.

Concussion Care

Are you or your loved one suffering from a concussion? Concussion is a common sports-related injury that affects millions of Americans every year. It is important to seek care from an expert who is skilled in treating concussions, such as a Primary Care Sports Medicine physician, to ensure you or your loved one is receiving the latest and most comprehensive treatment options. While you are recovering, our Sports Medicine physicians may recommend treatment from a multi-specialty team. We work closely with many local specialists who can complement concussion treatment from our Sports Medicine physicians.

Sports Physicals

Pre-participation physical exams, commonly referred to as “Sports Physicals,” are a prerequisite to participate in organized sports. They are also a good idea for anyone who is wanting to get back into exercising after not being active for a period of time. Especially for those who have chronic medical problems, pre-participation physical exams may help to ensure you are safe to participate in sports and exercise. Our Primary Care Sports Medicine physicians may also work with you to prescribe an individualized plans for returning to exercise. Our practice offers pre-participation physical exams year-round for athletes and active people of all ages.
